A while back I just HAD to buy these UGG boots that I saw, mainly because they were knitted and just looked so dang cool I couldn't stand to be without them. Luckily, my obsession for these boots took me over towards the end of the Winter season, so I was incredibly fortunate to find a pair at 50% off!! And UGGS are NOT cheap, so I got a fabulous deal on these!

So while searching at Ravelry for patterns, I stumble upon THESE!

Of course, these are just house boots, and even with a sole I wouldn't want to give them wear outside, but still they are such a cute re-creation. I'm definitely gonna have to make a pair to just wear as house slippers. SO cute!

I'm a huge fan of the Hungry Girl website, and the weekly newsletter. Last week they had a recipe for Crab Rangoon, and I LOVE Crab Rangoon so I had to try it out!

They were fairly easy to make, but it did take me about an hour to make them all. I actually didn't really like them, but Patrick did.

BEETS FOR DWIGHT

I'm a huge fan of THE OFFICE (US Version). I love the show so much. A few months ago I was browsing the patterns on Ravelry.com when I came across a pattern for a beet.

That's right. A Beet.

This beet pattern just happens to be a pattern written by my favorite knitwear designer, too. Norah Gaughan. I love her. Her patterns are gorgeous!

Now if you watch THE OFFICE, you know that Dwight Schrute (played by Rainn Wilson), owns a beet farm. I'm already in the Ravelry fan group for THE OFFICE. Currently, there are 2,240 members. So I thought to myself, WOW wouldn't it be awesome if I can get as many fans of THE OFFICE that knit, to knit a Beet For Dwight! I'm usually not one to toot my own horn, but it's probably the best idea I've ever had. Maybe even the only good idea I've ever had.

So that's when I decided to start the Ravelry group, Beets For Dwight. My ultimate goal is to get fans of THE OFFICE that knit, to come together through their love of the show and of Rainn Wilson and his character, to knit 100 beets. I will then send these beets to Rainn Wilson.

So far there are 90 members. Not a bad start, but we can do better. Just after about a month of doing this, I've received 4 beets so far. One more is on the way. And I just found out that one member knit 5 beets and has sent them out to me too!

I'm sure that with enough support we can reach our beet goal!!

As some of you know, Mother's Day isn't a particularly happy day for me. If anyone that's reading this has lost their Mother, than you know what I mean when I say that this time of year is hard. The media, TV, sale ads, etc ... bombard you with Mother's Day ads, and just rub it in your face. I miss my Mom enough already without being reminded every 10 seconds of the month before Mother's Day that she's not here, and that I won't be able to get her anything.

SO ... how do I make up for being sad and angry and annoyed at all the attention given to Mother's Day?

I buy myself stuff instead! I've splurged WAY TOO MUCH this month. My credit card is going to come back and bite me in the ass, I know (it's happened before so you'd think I would have learned from my mistakes) But NO.

Thanks to QVC for this one.

The Edge 500 Manual Treadmill. It's manual. No power, or motor. You just get on it and walk and as slow or as fast as you go, your motions move the belt. It was odd at first but I got use to it. It's on a constant incline (which can be adjusted 3 different ways, but I have to use the easiest one) so it feels like you're walking uphill always. Just 10 minutes on it and I'm already sweating and feel like I've really worked out! I'm really happy with it!

Next up is my new bike.

I saw this at Target and just had to have it. I needed a new bike. This is just a cruiser, so it's perfect for just biking around the neighborhood. I've only been able to go riding once since I've gotten it, but I really like it, I just hope I get to use it more! Plus, it was one of their "Breast Cancer" items so I feel even better knowing some of the money went to charity.

I also treated myself to a pedicure!

And last ...

I already have Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely perfume, which I bought a few years ago. Patrick is allergic to it, so I don't wear it that often, but I saw that she had come out with 3 new fragrances and I had to check them out! This is the one I loved the best. To me it smells like fresh soap with just a hint of roses or something like that. I love it!

So to those of you that see me on a weekly basis, if I'm not around for awhile it's because I'm either walking or biking, somewhere with my new perfume, or crying over my credit card bills.

I had a lot of fun making this one. It knit up SUPER fast. This is the first piece I've knit (for myself) that I had to seam together. I think my seaming skills have improved some since the last time I had to seam. There's always room for more improvement in that department for me!

EXCELLENT yarn! This is a more cost efficient alternative to Cascade 220. There are 247 yards per skein, 100% wool, VERY soft, and not at all itchy. Not as many colors to choose from as Cascade 220, but still quite a few. Great stitch definition, too. I would totally use this yarn again!

I got my new Crock Pot book a few days ago, and last night we tired our first recipe with it!

My Crock Pot is about 30 years old. We found it in the cabinets, in the back when we were cleaning out cookware a few years ago. My dad remembered it, but said it was never used. You can tell it's brand new just by looking at it. My mom had a larger one, that she used to make baked beans in, but we got rid of it because it was so old, and held on to the new one. It's only a 3 quart size. so we were limited on what we could make. Most of the recipes in the book require a 5-6 quart size.

So we decided to make Meatball Stew! It's basically just meatballs (ground beef, onion, and bread crumbs) hand-rolled, browned in a skillet, then added to the CP with carrots, celery, beef broth, etc. We made the noodles later when it was ready to be served. It was in the CP for about 4 hours. It was so yummy! And we have a ton of leftovers, which I've already had for lunch today.

However, since my CP is only a 3 quart size, and I want to be able to make whatever I want in it, I just had my hubby go to Kohl's and get me this:

They were on sale for $29.99! It's a Hamilton Beach Stay-or-Go 6 quart Slow Cooker. I can't wait to try another recipe!

My Lace Ribbon Scarf Hates Me

I started this scarf a while back ... put it down for awhile because I lost interest, then a few days ago I picked it back up again, determined to finish it before starting another project. So of course it's just my luck to completely screw something up in the pattern, and since fixing something with lots of YO's is nearly impossible, I ripped the whole thing out! I haven't decided yet if I'm going to try it again. I LOVE the pattern. It looks so gorgeous. Maybe I'll try again. Here it is before I murdered it.

I hung out with my friend, Kenan last week and finally got to give him his scarf. He loved it!!

I really miss Kenan. I rarely get to see him. We've known each other since we were little. He was best friends with my brother all through school.

We had dinner at Five Guys, then went to the pitiful Circuit City for awhile to see if they had anything good. And they didn't. What a pathetic store. No wonder they're going out of business. Even with everything on sale, the prices were still higher than Best Buy! Last, Patrick met up with us and we had coffee at Brew Nerds, while playing the "Every Other Oldies Song That Comes On Is One We've Never Heard Before" Game. That's when I got this snapshot!!

I've really been wanting to start using my crock-pot lately. I found this cookbook at Target for like around $18, but I got it on Amazon for $13. It's got all the Nutrition Information in it, so I can make anything in it and count my Weight Watchers points, too!

I also got Freaks and Geeks - The Complete Series on DVD! I've been wanting to get this forever. It's one of my FAVORITE TV shows, even though it got canceled after only 18 episodes.

We actually made ourselves go to bed early last night (well, early for us) so I could get up earlier today then normal. I just downloaded yesterday's episode of Days of Our Lives on Itunes, so I can watch it here in a few minutes. Usually I record it everyday and watch it at my own convenience, but I forgot to put the tape in the VCR yesterday! We had recorded LOST on Wednesday night, took the tape out of the VCR in the bedroom, and put it into the VCR in the kitchen so we could watch LOST again while we ate dinner. And I forgot to put it back :(

Yeah, I know we are very much obsessed with LOST. You will hear me talk about it a lot.

What TV shows do I always watch?

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) - been watching for 16 years, since I was 12 yrs. old!

Medium - I love the paranormal & Patricia Arquette

Nancy Grace - I'm usually at work when the LIVE show airs at 8pm, but they show it again at 11pm and 1am, so I never miss it

Grey's Anatomy - although I don't think it's as good as it used to be

My friend, Kenan, asked me to knit him a scarf, and I happily said yes. I never really knit for other people, other than family, but I've known Kenan since I was 5. So he gets what he wants :) The yarn is Berroco Comfort, which I've used before and really like.

Lace Ribbon Scarf

This pattern is from Knitty, but I found it on Ravelry. I love how it's coming along! Other than my brief screw-up at Knit Night last night, it's coming along nicely. I swear, every Wednesday night I get about 2 rows of whatever I'm working on done, totally screw up the 3rd row, and then spend the rest of Knit Night ripping back a row to fix it. Every time, and I never learn my lesson. The pattern calls for lace weight yarn, but I'm using some Lang Jawoll sock yarn I got at Knit Picky about 2 years ago.

And there you have it. I hope I can control myself and at least finish these 3 WIP's before starting another. I just purchased THIS book from Amazon.com, only for the Barn Raising Quilt pattern. It calls for leftover sock yarn (which I have a TON of, obviously). I'm excited about being able to finally use it all up. I guess I can make it as big as I want to, but for right now I think I have enough leftover colors to make about 20 or so squares. Plus, with all of my sock yarn being Superwash, I'll be able to machine wash it!

After Knit Night, Patrtick and I skipped the debate, and decided to go to Target, Applebees, and Lowes Foods instead. Thank God Applebees has a Weight Watchers menu. Even though a TINY slice of cake cost $5. Of course we watched the debate later, because it was on EVERY CHANNEL.

I love them, too. They fit so perfectly, and the colors are so true to Freddie's sweater. I emailed Sam @ sKNITches, and she's going to custom design some "Friday The 13th" yarn for me next! I'm so excited :)

Right now though, I need to figure out what I'm going to do with my Shanna Banana yarn!

Shanna is so sweet and gave me a skein that she wasn't going to use, and after attempting the
Pomatomus Socks and deciding that I really do need my hands to not bleed and fall off (because the pattern is so damn hard with all those ktbl's that it was killing me) I need to find another pattern to do instead, and afer googling like crazy, I have NO idea which one I'm going to do! I can't seem to find one that I like better than the 9 to 5 Socks I've already done twice. I don't want to do a pattern I've already done, either.

Whew! What a long week I've had. Work has been stressful (as usual). People have been giving be grief over the Great Tomato Scandal (as if I have any control over it). Enough already. Not being able to have tomatoes on your sub isn't the end of the world. I'm so glad it's Wednesday.

In knitting news, I finished one of my Elm Street Socks. I LOVE it. It fits perfectly.

I'm just about finished with the first of the 9 to 5 socks, made with the Jojoland yarn I got at Knit Picky, that will be a store sample (until I get to take them home with me!). This yarn is gorgeous! And it's super soft, too. As always, I love that it's superwash. Jo, I'm so glad you got this yarn!

Also the socks that I started on last week using the Melody superwash yarn I'm knitting for the shop, I had to rip them out and start over! I'm an idiot and I was using US 1 needles and I needed to be using US 2 needles instead ... damn. Oh well, they'll knit faster with larger needles anyway. I had gotten the top ribbing done and maybe 5 repeats of the leg pattern when I realized this.

Just an update on my baby sweater ...

The back, front right, front left, & one sleeve are finished ... working on the other sleeve now ... then I have to do the border & the hood, and I'm done! Well, besides putting the darn thing together that is. The instructions aren't really making sense for the border and the hood though. Someone is going to have to help me figure it out (Ann Marie that means you, since you are the Yoda of knitting :)

Can you believe I'm not knitting socks!?!?!? Well, I do have a pair on the needles, but I haven't worked on them since I started on the sweater. I can't wait to meet my niece. My sister-in-law is due on July 28th!

Last Wednesday at Knit Night I was telling the gals about the movie, Black Sheep.

No, not that really bad movie from the 90's with Chris Farley, but the other one, the horror film Black Sheep.

This movie was FUNNY. If you're sickened by gore in horror films, I recommend you don't see it. After all, the movie IS about zombie-sheep eating people.

Here are 3 things I've been working on ...

First, with the yarn I bought from Thank Ewe's Etsy Shop ....

Second, another pair of Waving Lace Socks, using Miss Babs sock yarn .....

I'm a little past the heel since taking this pic. I LOVE this pattern. I've made one pair already, but have been dying to knit a 2nd pair using this pattern.

And third, the Hearts Baby Blanket I'm knitting for my sister-in-law, who's pregnant! We don't know if it will be a boy or a girl yet, so I picked yellow. Which is super funny now because of a line in the new film, Juno. There's a scene where Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner are testing out different shades of yellow for the nursery. They're planning to adopt Juno's baby and no one knows the sex yet, and Jason Bateman says something like, "Who decided to make yellow 'gender neutral'? I don't know any guys with yellow bedrooms." That's so true. But still, the blanket is yellow, LOL.

I was going to take some photos and blog about the new socks I'm working on, but suddenly I feel so SLEEPY. So, maybe next time ...

Ok so I frogged the Waving Lace Socks I posted about before. They were way to small! I don't know why I was getting such a small gauge, but whatever. I give up too easily.

Instead, I decided to cast on for ANOTHER pair of Basic Ribbed Socks. I know this pattern of K3, P1 is very mindless, but it creates the BEST FITTING sock ever.

The yarn is Lang Jawoll Self Striping.

Saturday Night.

I'm working on another pair of Waving Lace Socks, from the Favorite Socks book. I'm using some Cherry Tree Hill yarn I got at Knit Picky. For some reason I think they may be too small to go over my heel, but we shall see. I haven't knitted socks using metal DPN's in quite sometime, so maybe that's giving me a tighter gauge. My gauge is a little off, but hopefully after I knit some more of the leg, they'll fit. If not, I'll just have to start over.

In other news, I quit The Record Exchange!

I got a call about a month ago from Ash, one of the guys that I used to work for at Subway. He had gotten my cell # from a mutual friend, and was calling to offer me a job as night manager at one of his stores! I never thought in a million years I would go back and work at a Subway, but the offer he made me was too sweet to say No to. So I worked a 2 week notice at TRE and then tomorrow I start back at Subway!

I'll have weekends off (sweet), and I will be saving so much $$$ on food!

I really am excited about this. It's a step in the right direction for us, financially. So hopefully, everything will be better for us soon!

It's been a busy and tiring month. Work hasn't slowed down, and my free time is limited. Really the only time I KNOW I'm gonna have every week is on Sundays. After work I always go see a movie. The time to myself sitting in the theater, doing what I love the most is awesome. Even if the movie isn't all that great, I still love it.

Knitting is happening less and less, though. Which is fine, I guess. My latest obsession is the show Ghost Hunters. Check it out if you haven't seen it. Wednesday night there are marathons on Sci-Fi.

So when I found out the two main guys from the show (Jason & Grant) were gonna be at Greensboro College I freaked out! Patrick and I waited in line for 2 hours to get tickets. Then we waited another hour before the doors opened. Then waited ANOTHER hour before the guys actually came out to start their presentation. I would have waited ALL DAY though if I had to. The whole experience was INCREDIBLE and we had so much fun. After their 2 hour presentation, talking about the show and the paranormal, they came out into the audience to answer questions. THEN we all got to get in line to meet them and get their autographs. I had them sign my Season 2 Part 1 DVD.

Another pair of socks, of course. Basic K3, P1 ribbed pattern. Improvising on the heel flap and such. I'm using the leftovers from the Monkey socks and the Embossed Leaves socks, to make a striped pair. I'm finished with the 1st one and I'm almost done with the 2nd.

In case you've been wondering what's happened to me ... yes I am still here :)

I've just been mega busy, working non-stop, and having very little time to blog, knit, or do much else.

I recently borrowed from my friend, Jon, his copy of the Freaks And Geeks Complete Series boxset, and I've been spending all my spare time (which there isn't very much of) watching that and the Sex & the City Complete Series boxset that I splurged on.

Patrick is doing fine, too and has been working alot as well.

I feel terrible that I haven't had time to go to Knit Picky and see the crew and to shop! But I haven't knitted my way through all the yarn I have so I don't want to buy it if I don't need it yet. Believe it or not, I have self control over yarn, but not over DVD's.

DVD's are my kryptonite.

Anyways, I broke a sox sticks needle and will need to make time to get my replacement soon anyways, so hopefully after next week I'll have more time. Some people at work took a vacation and that's why I've been working so much lately :(

Oh, and by the way .. I can't stop talking about Superbad. It was INCREDIBLE.

Four jobs I have had:

1. McDonalds. My first job when I was 16. I worked there for the summer and then stayed after school started back for a few months. I REALLY hated it, but my boyfriend and some of our other friends worked there with us, that part of it was pretty cool. I have to say though, I was a kick ass drive-thru girl.

2. Sears. One year later, I was a sales girl in the Junior's dept. It wasn't too bad, but I really spent all my free time there, so it was hard to keep up in school sometimes. I quit because my boss was a total you-know-what!

3. Subway. That's were I worked right after high-school. Became the manager within about 5 months, and made mega money there, actually. Was able to buy my first NEW car! Worked at about 3 different stores up until I got married and moved to Texas!

4. Bath & Body Works. LOVED LOVED LOVED that job! I got the best discount and at one time had more bath & beauty products then one single person should.

Four places I have lived:

1. East Bend. Lived there since birth, until I moved to Texas.

2. Dallas, TX. lived in the "gay-bourhood" (that's what they call it) with Patrick's friend, Gregg, in downtown Dallas for about 4 months after moving there.

3. Arlington, TX. Where we had our first apartment!

4. Grand Prairie, TX. Where we had our last apartment! OH how I miss that place!

Favorite Food:

1. Onions. I'd put them on just about everything if I could.

2. Tex-Mex. One of the things I miss most about Texas. Although, Moe's is VERY close.

3. Coffee. It's hard to go a day without it.

4. Chicken & Dumplings. I think I'd have it as my "last meal".

I would rather be:

1. Thinner.

2. Richer.

3. Stonger.

4. 6 years old again, when everything was FINE.

HA HA, sorry but I had to show off my new bags cause I love them both so much! The John Mayer bag I bought of course when I went to the concert last week, and the LM Libby bag I scored before I left Knit Picky. I've been using the JM bag as my knitting bag, but since I no longer work at KP, I don't have an excuse to carry it out anywhere! I haven't had time to stop by KP since I left to hang out, but soon, I promise! I've been working my butt off at The Record Exchange, until my new job starts (Aug. 27th, it got delayed), so I haven't had time to really go anywhere or hardly any time to knit!

Diamonds Are Forever

UPDATE:

OK, I'm thoroughly disgusted with this pattern. I KNEW I should have read through the whole pattern before I started knitting. I usually do that, but this time I didn't. They've been frogged indefinitely. So I guess enjoy the picture cause it's all they're will ever be.

I got the entire leg part done and then when I got to the heel flap, the pattern says to put the 'last stitch from needle 3 onto needle 2'. Um, that's IMPOSSIBLE. Maybe it means 'the 1st st. from needle 3 to needle 4', but either way it didn't work. Also, generally heel flaps are knitted using the sts. from needle 1 & 4. This pattern said to do the heel flap using the sts. from needle 2 & 3. WTF?!?! That means I have to cut my yarn and rejoin it, but the pattern says nothing about that. I don't know. Sometimes when a pattern assumes you know what they mean I can just improvise, but the pattern rows weren't gonna look right if I followed what the pattern said to do, so whatever. I give up on this one. I've spent the majority of my afternoon looking up sock patterns on Ravelry and I think I've found some possibilities for this yarn :) Wish me luck!

I'd started on the RPM socks from Knitty, but they just didn't look very good to me. I think with all the knitting into the purl stitches and vice versa, it's not gonna look good if the yarn is too slippery or if you're not knitting tight enough. So I frogged it and decided to give the Diamond Lace Socks another try.

I tried to do them a few months back but I kept messing up and got frustrated, and frogged them (they later became the Retro Rib Socks). But I love the pattern so much that I wanted to try them again and so far I'm glad I did. I think the main problem with the pattern is the uneven # of sts. for the pattern repeat. For example, I'll have to k2tog, but there is only 1 stitch left on the needle so I have to slip a stitch from the next needle over so I can do the k2tog. It's kinda irritating, but I've gotten the hang of it.

I'm not doing the picot edging that the pattern calls for, just a Twisted Rib instead. The picot seems a bit tedious just for the top of a freaking sock. It's pretty, but not for me.

I'm using the new Cherry Tree Hill yarn I got in Gypsy Rose. I LOVE this yarn! The pattern calls for a size 1, but I'm using a size 2 needle.

FINALLY. I finished it! I started this probably back in January or February. I knew I was gonna run out of yarn, because I was stupid and only bought 1 skein of each color. And then of course we ran out at the shop, and then we got more in but it was summertime so I was in no rush to finish it. I'm trying to quit leaving so many projects unfinished, because if i'm away from them for too long I know I'll NEVER finish them.

The yarn is Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton (Caribbean & Ink). Luckily Amanda had some of the Caribbean color leftover from the jumper that she made and she was sweet enought to let me have it, and I bought another skein of the Ink, and voilà! it's done :)

I basically made up the pattern. I just casted on like 25 or so sts. and made it up as I went. The little flower thing was just from a chart I found online. I made it for my friend, Crystal, who lives in Texas. Yes, it does get cold there in the winter time. She's highly allergic to wool, hence the BSA cotton.

So here it is!

Today was my last day @ Knit Picky. It was sad to leave, because I will miss my co-workers and all of my favorite customers. It's been a blast working at KP, but it's time to move on. I will now only frequent KP as a customer. Like where else am I gonna buy yarn? DUH!

As for my knitting, I've been working on the Embossed Leaves Socks from Favorite Knits. I don't think I could live without this book. The yarn is Trekking, and I'm using LM Sox Stixs. Seriously, if you love to knit socks and don't have a pair of Sox Stixs you are missing out! They just feel so STRONG. I don't think I'll ever go back to using Crystal Palace DPN's.

I finished the Brach's Socks!

First pair made using the Magic Loop method ... I really like it, but I think I actually prefer my DPN's, but it's nice to know another way to knit socks.

Also, I knit this up as a shop sample, using the BSA Cotton in "Shrimp". The pattern is from the Harry Potter pattern book, Charmed Knits. I just didn't make it in HP colors, of course.

I've been skipping my morning coffee lately because it's just been too damn hot to drink it, but I NEEDED some so I can drink it whilst I blog. Since I've got mad magic loopin' skillz now, I'm attempting my first sock using it.
So far, so good.

We also got brand new Jawoll Superwash colors in today! I snatched up the camel colored skeins. There are still about 10 more colors to choose from, and they are GORGEOUS! I've been wanting some pretty solid colors so I can do another lace pattern sock.

I JUST finished putting on all the flowers and leaves! The handles actually aren't attached yet, they're just lying there, but you get the idea :) I love it so much! This bag was incredibly fun to knit! I have to give thanks to Frann for helping me felt it. I've felted a few times before, but I wanted some help so I wouldn't mess it up. Progress on the English Garden Felted Bag

I'm almost finished! I've got the bag completely done. It just needs to be felted.
All of the embellishments go on after felting. I just need to learn the Magic Loop so I can knit the big flower. I hear it's really simple, and I have somewhat of an idea how to do it I just need to figure it out. All the buds, leaves, vines and bobbles are done! I can't believe how quick it was to knit this! It really didn't take me long at all! The bag itself knit SUPER fast. It's done on US 13's, holding 2 strands together, so it took no time at all really.

Special thanks to Gena, who helped me figure out the attached I-cord thingy. I was totally stumped. I can do a regular I-cord, but an attached one? Had no idea, and the directions weren't very clear at all. So far I've found a few mistakes in the pattern, but they weren't too hard to figure out what the author really meant.

I'm planning to felt on Tuesday, when Jo gets back. Jo, Laura, and I will be working and Susan, the felting queen, will probably stop by the shop so I'll have plenty of help. I've only felted a few times, so I want all the expertise I can get around me so I don't screw it up.

I've just been handed the yarn to knit this for the shop! It's a free pattern from Straw.com, the Crystal Palace website.

Needless to say I'm RIDICULOUSLY excited about this one. It requires me to learn the Magic Loop, which I guess I gotta learn sometime, right? Anyways, if all turns out well, maybe there will be a class for me to teach in the future!

I've been eyeing this pattern for quite sometime now, and when Jo handed me the yarn I said, "How did you know I wanted to knit this?". She and I share the same birthday so we think alot alike sometimes! :)

I went to see my Mamaw today for Mother's Day, and I bought her some flowers. I also took her this doily that I knitted for my mom about a year or so ago. When I originally gave it to my mom she loved it and said I should knit one for my Mamaw, but I never did. But anyways I gave it to my Mamaw today to sit on her table underneath the vase of flowers i got for her. Mamaw loved it too, by the way.

I also got started a few days ago on the Retro Rib Socks from Interweave's Favorite Socks. I started with a few other patterns before doing this one but they were totally not working out for me, but I think this one will be okay.

WOW I really love these socks! So far the best fitting pair I've made have been the Monkey Socks, but I think I love these even more! This pattern was so much fun to do, and it totally kept me interested.

I really prefer not to knit anything in straight stockinette for too long. I love how there are SO MANY fancy sock patterns out there I still want to try. People kid me about knitting only socks, but it's so rewarding to me! I can knit a pair of socks WAY quicker than I could ever knit a sweater. I'm not taking on anything like that until I've lost all the weight I want to lose. Why waste all that time & money knitting a sweater that will (hopefully!) be too big for me in the future? I've made more hats than I can count, besides I don't ever wear hats anyways. I love my socks. Who knows, maybe I'll get bored knitting socks somewhere down the line, but I highly doubt it! :)

Words cannot describe the wonder that is Sweet Georgia yarn. It is such a shame that the maker of this yarn is going on hiatus. I hope she returns to yarn painting soon because it is so GORGEOUS and I want some more! Luckily, I had quite a bit leftover so I know I'll be using it for wee little socks or something.

Also, Jo asked me to knit up a sock for the shop with Plymouth's Sockotta Sock yarn :)

Yarn: Sweet Georgia Speed Demon Sock in Fondant

I'm using the US 2 LM sox sticks on these. I tried using them on the Sockotta sock but they were making it WAY to big. I'm kinda following the pattern I used for the cable socks I made with the Schulana (the ones hanging in the shop) but with a few minor changes, and minus the cables of course. So far so good! These are knitting up so fast! I've hardly spent anytime on them. They ARE speed demon socks!

I also cast on last night for the Sockotta socks I'm making as a shop sample. I'm using the GORGEOUS Lantern Moon Sox Sticks that Jo's letting me borrow. So far I'm only about 6 rows into the cuff but I'm LOVING the needles and the yarn. I hope to work on them some more tonight.

I had bought 2 balls of the Palette thinking I'd use about 1 1/2 balls for the socks, but I managed to finish the socks using only one ball! So now I have a whole ball of Palette to make another pair or to do something else with.

I'm ALMOST done with my socks for Shanna!!! So far I only have a pic of the first one. I hope to have them done so I can give them to her tomorrow if she comes to Knit Nite. .... yeah, and I hope they fit her!

So what did I come home with today? Some of that Knitter's Little Helper hand balm. OMG this stuff smells AMAZING!

What’s your worst habit relating to your knitting? I knit alot of socks and for some reason I've developed the 2nd Sock Syndrome ... I have about 5 socks right now with no mates

In what specific ways does your knitting make you a better person? it's a huge stress relief ... i think i'd be really cranky without it

How might you or your life be different if you were suddenly unable to knit? I'd probably start smoking again since I'd need to do something with my hands

These were made using Knit Picks Memories in Geranium. I really loved the yarn, but they have since felted on the bottom, but I guess that makes them stronger? Who knows.

So I broke down and got some Crystal Palace DPN's today. I've been afraid to use the wooden needles for socks in the past, but I've been told by so many people that they should be fine so I'm trying them. I'm so afraid they'll break! Hopefully they'll be fine. This should teach me to not grip my needles so hard while I'm knitting.

Here's one of the socks I made for Jo for her birthday!

They're both finished now but I took this photo after I only had one of them done. They're made out of the Cascade Sassy Stripes. The yarn was so fun to work with, and it knitted up great! I highly recommend it. I kinda made up the pattern, using bits of other sock patterns I had. And I used US 1 DPN's :)

I think these were the 4th pair of Jaywalkers I made. I bought the yarn on an impulse at another shop, before I knew about Knit Picky.. I hated it, but I think it kinda grew on me after awhile. It's Wildfoote Sock Yarn in Mums . The yarn is kinda splitty and a little to dark to see very well while knitting with it. I don't think I'll ever use it again.

These are the AZ Flip Flop Socks that we're offering a class on in April. I just finished them today and I love them! They're made using Cascade Fixation, and I used US 3 DPN's.

The class is on April 17th & 24th from 6-8pm if anyone is interested! :)
